Welcome to the Slumber Party!
It's been a long time since I've posted here, but the excitement over tonight's filibuster got me off the couch. It looks like the Levin/Reed ammendment might have a chance, forcing Bush to get most of our troops home by April '08.
My family and I decided to stay up late to watch it all on CSPAN. Actually, I decided, but the kids were sent off to bed just now by the Chainman of the Board, my wife Karen. But not before we shot a photo of the family holding a "Slumber Party for Peace" sig. I'm planning to send a link to the pic to Alexander and Corker, who have just voted No in the first of probably several votes tonight.
We've heard some good speeches, including my favorite for righteous indignation by Senator Mikulki of Maryland, and the most persuasive so far (in my opinion) from New York's Senator Schumer. Check Think Progress for live blog coverage of the floor votes, and check back here if you stay up late.
Oh, and leave a comment.

I'm watching it too and I posted something on my myspace page to try to convince my friends to watch for a while. I hope at least a few of them will. What a great opportunity to see these guys lie in primetime!
Lieberman is up right now and he's saber rattling against Iran again. He looks so tired and like he's just trying to keep talking. Isn't it just sickening?
I agree that Schumer did a good job. I liked Feinstein too (she's my Senator - she's not for impeachment yet but she's doing good things on the judiciary committee and on Iraq)
Anyway, glad to see I'm not the only one watching!
Thanks for the comment Jen! Did you hear Mary Landrieu giving my Senator Alexander hell over his acusation that this is a stunt? She was great. She said this is no policy--this is the senate and this is what we do.
"I ran for it. I was elected. I am here. I am a policymaker an I intend to make policy."
Then she put up the FBI wanted poster of Bin Ladin just to "remind the president what he looks like!"
