Jeffersonian Democrat

For President's Day, check out this recent op-ed piece from Terry Michael, former press secretary for the Democratic National Committee. Michael argues that for the Democratic Party to have a future it will need to move beyond the two typical options of centrist mushiness and knee-jerk liberalism. His model for the future: that founding Dem, Thomas Jefferson.

I think this is good advice but highly unlikely. The same goes for Republicans. He makes a good point that most people are looking for a blend of both parties. I don't think either party can seperate from their extremes enough to form a center. I think it will take high profile politicians to publicly make a shift to a new party.
